Who are Tomnafinnoge Athletics Club (TAC)

TAC is Wicklow’s newest athletics club established in 2023. We began life as Shillelagh Community Games, which was first established in the 1970s. The successes achieved by the club at this level propelled us forward to consider becoming a fully-fledged athletics club to build on our strengths and provide more opportunities for training and entering regional and national athletics competitions.

Athletics for All

Another important aspect of being a member of both governing bodies is that we can now provide opportunities for Juveniles (8-17 years), Youths (18+ years), Seniors (20+ years) and Masters (35+ years) to compete in events throughout the calendar year including: indoor competitions, track and field events, cross-country and road racing. We hope that this exciting development will allow TAC to attract and retain athletes of all abilities and ages throughout the locality

What is Community Games?

Community Games is a national organisation founded in 1967. Its main objective is to provide young people with the means and the opportunity to utilise their leisure time in a healthy and productive way. It is child-centered and the focus is on participation rather than winning. Children take part in friendly rivalry, in a fun and healthy way. More details can be found here
